Proof that your tax dollars are hard at work

As most of you know I am a legal secretary. I work very hard in preparing court documents, making sure deadlines are met and keeping up with the work flow.

Occasionally, I get VERY IMPORTANT task from my boss, such as tracking down delinquent criminals, reviewing and charging criminal cases (of course with the final approval from an attorney) and testifying in court as a witness.

This afternoon was no exception to the importance of my job. My boss called me into his office and wanted me to send an email to the department about a very important issue our department is having. This is my response to his request:

Dear Legal Department:

The City just added an "expensive" anti-theft locking system on our City vehicle, to ensure it's working correctly, please review the following instructions:

Step 1) open door
Step 2) get out of car
Step 3) Lock all doors
Step 4) close door
Step 5) get back to work!!!

It's complicated I know, but just as a quick reminder...Shawn would like us to check to make sure all the doors are lock in the City car when we leave! Thanks! Any questions, please refer back to the 5-step instructions mentioned above! :-) Have a great day!!!

The funny thing is I had one attorney email me back saying he didn't get it and the another employee think we got automatic locks installed in the car instead of using the manual ones...I told her, "with this recession... we are lucky if we get gas in the car".

I love my job!!!
